Bob Simpson interview Just a recording exercise from my script, originally written as a 2-handed stage show sketch. 3 RFVM Actors
Mermaid Written as an exercise in making use of chromakey (green screen) technology to put the fish behind the actors.

Unfortuately, the footage for the film has been lost (but not a great loss!)

2 RFVM Actors
Hope Written for a 1 minute film competition which had to include a diamond in the story. Filmed by myself on a GoPro, very minimalist. 1 Solo
…the making of… Fun film to make. I was not keeping proper notice of the takes we took, which meant for one scene the only take we had was not a good one, and had to patch it up. Worked out okay though. 1 Solo
Vox Pop This was written for a 1 minute film competition. It turned out to be around 1:07 so is speeded up to fit into the time.We were using lavalier (clip on) microphones, but unfortunately a problem with the recording meant we had to use the sound recording from the camera, which is why there’s so much traffic noise. 1 RFVM Actors
Vox Pop 2 When I wrote the original Vox Pop I wrote too much for a 1 minute film, but we decided to film it anyway and make a second film from it. Again, we were using lavalier (clip on) microphones, but unfortunately a problem with the recording meant we had to use the sound recording from the camera, which is why there’s so much traffic noise. 1 RFVM Actors
Paris When I was writing this script I had a vision for how it would turn out, and it didn’t quite work in a few key points. It’s a valuable lesson in understanding what’s practically possible and writing to that, rather than imagining an ideal result and hoping it will work out. There’s a few shots I wish we’d recorded at the time but didn’t realise the need until I was editing.

This was my first attempt at editing a film, and the first time I’ve done any significant direction. There’s various points when I should have given better direction to the actors.

3 RFVM Actors
T is for Tension This was made as an exercise in trying to create tension in a film. 1 RFVM Actors
Sudden Death The original script was written by me but the styling of the film, the music and sound and the building of tension was all done by the editor, Jim Reed. 3 RFVM Actors
